Propiconazole is a triazole fungicide. This triazole fungicide also goes by the name DMI (demethylation inhibiting fungicide). It stops fungal growth by demethylation of C-14( removal of a methyl group (CH3) from a molecule) during ergosterol biosynthesis that leads to an accumulation of C-14 methyl sterols. This mode of action affects the cell walls of the fungi which slows or stops the fungal growth.
