Non-Repellent Insecticides

Non-repellent Insecticides for Ant Control

When choosing an insecticide to use against ants, there are two types to choose from: Repellent insecticides and non-repellent insecticides. Non-repellents are the overwhelmingly popular choice these days, and with good reason. Ants can’t detect these “invisible” insecticides and, therefore, readily crawl through them. As these ants return to the nest, they are unknowingly tracking the insecticide with them and transferring it to their nest mates. Over time, this eliminates all of the ants including the queen. While this method is slower than some, it usually results in complete eradication of the ant colony.

Spray around the foundation of your house and other entry points such as around doors, windows and exterior openings such as where electrical or cable wires connect.

Taurus SC and FUSE Insecticides are the top choices for liquid non-repellent insecticides for ant control. FUSE has a more flexible label than Taurus. You may spray FUSE more frequently and at different band widths..

Taurus SC

  • Taurus SC (same as Termidor SC- Fipronil 9.7 )
  • Mix Taurus at 0.8 oz per gallon of water and spray a low volume spray up to 18 inches out and 18 inches up the perimeter of your home as a banded spray.
  • Labeled for twice a year spraying
  • Taurus SC 20 oz yields 25 gallons and the 78 oz yields 100 gallons
FUSE
  • FUSE - ( Imidacloprid 21.4% and Fipronil 6.6%)
  • Mix 0.3 to 0.6 oz per gallon of water. Spray as a low pressure spray along the foundation.
  • FUSE may be applied twice or eight times a year, depending on the dosage strength and size of bands around the house.
  • FUSE 7.5 oz yields 13-26 gallons, 27.5 yields 50-100 gallons

  5. Non Repellent Ant Kit -Taurus SC and Phantom Aerosol
    $66.25

Use this ant control kit to treat ants inside and outside with the non repellent insecticides, Taurus SC and Phantom Aerosol. Using a pest control method with non repellent insecticides for ant control is superior over repellent insecticides, because the ants can not detect its presence. If ants can detect an insecticide, they will choose to go around it and enter the structure in another manner. With non repellent insecticides, the ants go thru the chemicals without avoiding it. As they go thru the Taurus and Phantom, the foraging ants are covered with the insecticide, taking it back to the nest to share with other ants.
