Yellow Jacket Control

Yellow Jacket Control

Yellow Jackets are usually found nesting in the ground, but could inhabit railroad ties, wall voids or above the ground locations.

Yellow Jackets feed on insects during the spring months. Spraying any foliage with an appropiate insecticide would help reduce the population.

Yellow Jackets are the largest during the fall months and can become a nuisance pest as they forage garbage

Yellow Jackets can become aggresive if their colony is disturbed. For most the yellow jacket sting is just temporary, but some do have an allergic reaction to the sting that requires medical attention.

Yellow Jacket nests should be located during the day, so you can see the workers entering and exiting all day. Mark the entry points. Treat at night only when it is dark.

Any treatments should be done at night, because they are all in the nest. They don't see well at night and your chances of being stung are greatly reduced.

Spraying Yellow Jacket Nests:

  1. Spray opening at night with pyrethrin aerosol-CB 80, PT 656 or V One
  2. Wait until aerosol is dry (10-15 minutes)
  3. Dust opening with Evergreen Dust or D Fense Dust
