Recommended Control and Elimination Measures for Yellow Jacket Control

Sanitation :
In order to eliminate possible food sources, is important to reduce build up of foraging population during the summer to mid autumn . Trash containers should be kept closed and open containers should be emptied regularly.

Treating Nests:
Nests should be located during the day, so you can see the workers entering and exiting all day. Mark the entry points. Treat at night only when it is dark. Any treatments should be done at night, because they are all in the nest. They don't see well at night and your chances of being stung are greatly reduced.

  • Treat the nest with a pyrethrum aerosols such as CB 80 or PT 565. Pyrethrum forms a gas which will fill the cavity, killing the yellow jackets.
  • Check the nest the following day, to see if the yellow jackets are indeed dead by lack of activity.
It may be necessary to repeat treatment.
  • Wait unil the aerosol is dry then dust in the opening with Tempo Dust or D-Fense Dust. These dusts will leave a residue to continue to kill for months and eliminate any hatch outs.

With a little care and caution, yellow jackets can be easily and safely eliminated.

Directions

  1. Spray opening at night with pyrethrin aerosol about a 15 second blast
  2. Wait until aerosol is dry (10-15 minutes), then dust opening with Tempo Dust or D Fense Dust

Pro Tips The best time to kill out a nest of yellow jackets is at night. Put that tip on the CB-80 and spray into the hole for about 15 seconds. Then use the Tempo dust. The dust will assure you that a one time shot will do the job. If the nest is not a threat to you or your family leave it alone. They are beneficial. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call me, I have done hundreds of these.

Really great product
This kit did exactly what they said it would do. I didn't know how big the nest we had was until after I killed it and started digging it out of the house. (Under our stair landing)

While I was doing that I noticed more yellow jackets flying around the edge of the concrete slab on the ground. They had migrated and started a new colony under the slab.

I used the spray (once) and after it dried treated it with the dust. No more yellow jackets.

This purchase was well worth the money and worked great.

Great product, great dealer - -buy from here with confidence!
Perfect system, easy to do. This is a yellow-jacket murdering machine. We almost look forward to getting more yellow jackets just to get at them. OK, that is a bit much, but this dealer is professional, thorough, and has a great product. it will do the job.

The only stuff that worked!!!!!!!!!!!
We have a country rental home that the yellow jackets love, also a tenant deadly allergic to stings...not a good combination! I went to both big box stores by me to buy yellow jacket / wasp spray and tried to kill them with over 15 cans of the store stuff, but it didn't phase the yellow jackets. I tried three different brands and nothing worked. Then I turned to DIY PEST CONTROL for Walt's yellow jacket kit and followed the instructions and no more yellow jackets. I once again look like a hero. I'm guessing that the over the counter stuff in the stores must have changed (weakened) their formula because it used to work and now the wasps & YJ's just laugh at the stuff where they used to drop dead on contact. Thank God for DIY PESTCONTROL!

Did the Job
We purchased a home in Sept and quickly found out we had a pesky infestation of Yellow Jackets in our landscaping burm. The wasps were nesting in the rock wall and actively gathering for the winter to come. It looked like bugs were shooting out of the ground! We knew we had to take care of them because they could damage our yard. So first went cheap and tried the spray from Home Depot. It did nothing to deter the wasps. They we back the very next day. Then we found this kit. After two applications, we are wasp free! The spray nozzle didn't work, so we had to spray twice, but it was pretty simple. We've also used it for other types of bugs and wasps around our property. I'm sure it saved us $$ because we didn't need to get a professional. Thank you.

effective
I did the treatment on a cool night, applying a good 20 second blast into the two nest entrances in a RR tie wall. Then dusted about 20 minutes later. Next day saw a couple of yellowjackets poking around in a confused state, and nothing since. They come back every year, so now I can eliminate the nests for several years hence for the price of a visit by the exterminator.

Excellent
Works as advertised. Very effective and easy to use. I had a nest with several entrance holes in a 8-inch square area. I used a piece of metal fine mesh with a hole small near the center for the aerosol tip to go through, which kept all the wasps inside the nest. I slid the mesh's hole into alignment with each entrance holes and sprayed into them, followed by the dust. Adios, yellow jackets.

Perfect
I was a little skeptical at first because I always used gas in a ground nest of yellow jackets. The nest I had this year was in the side of a rock foundation. I used the spray and then the powder and the next day, no activity,no bees , and best of all no stings. Great stuff !

Highly recomended
I had a gigantic yellow jacket nest in a wall. I drilled holes into the wall and then sprayed. After this, I dusted the opening and also put some in the holes. It killed the entire nest.

Outstanding
Even our monthly exterminator, who has done a great job ridding us of pack rats, moles, and just about every other critter that we have in Northern Arizona, would not tackle our thriving yellow jacket nest. They would fly in and out in droves from right by our front porch, and we coexisted for years; even though it wasn't pleasant having them, they didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. Then this past summer, our visiting son-in-law got badly stung, and a month later I did. That was it. Coexistence over. I bought this kit, followed the directions, and voila: gone, gone, gone. Our quality of life has been greatly improved; we can even have a meal on our back patio without having flights of uninvited guests joining us! THANK YOU!

Works!
Yellow jackets had built a nest behind the brick front of our home and had bored through the ceiling into the living room. Followed directions and one application did the job. Have enough remaining to take care of them again should we need it next year.

Extremely satisfied!
I had what turned out to be an enormous yellow jacket colony living in one of the exterior walls of my house. When there were signs that the yellow jackets were starting to come through the wall to the interior of the house, I knew it was time to act. An exterminator would have cost at least $200, but with Walt's Yellow Jacket Kit I eradicated the entire nest for under $60. It was quick, easy, and effective. I'm very happy with the product, the shipping, and the online information and support.

This product work great. I did have some difficulty with the nozzle, but I finally got it attached. I had two nest to treat. I waited until dark and sprayed the CB-80 in the holes waited a few minutes then applied the powder. When I checked the nest the next morning there were no Yellow Jackets to be found. This stuff is better then anything I found at the local stores.

Yellow Jacket Nightmare...
One day I received a call from my wife indicating that she and the kids saw some sort of bee going into and out of the side of our house. When I got home and checked it out, they were entering where the air conditioning lines enter. I carefully measured where the entry was and went inside to look. We have a drop ceiling in the room where entry was and pushed up one tile to take a peak. The nest was about the size of a large mellon (think musk not water). Not knowing if they were bees or what, and since they did not swarm me when I pushed up the tile I took a picture. After zooming in, sure enough, yellow jackets. I remembered about this site from an ant problem about 10 years ago. I'm glad they are still here. Found Walt's kit and decided to order it. That was 3 weeks ago. The kit was sitting in my house for two week for it to happen. I got stung. Time for action. This stuff is great. I sprayed in their only entry point for about 15-20 seconds, and then waited. Nothing came out, no activity. After about 20 minutes, I applied the dust (maybe a bit excessively). I wandered down to the basement and peeked in again. No activity. I pushed a tile further in, and there were dead yellow jackets on the top of the other tiles. It's been 3 days and still no activity. Last night I went to a friends house and sprayed their yellow jackets as well. There was one that made it out of the opening, but it was curled up and not doing well. No other activity. This stuff is great.

Perfect solution.
Worked as promised. Applied as suggested at night and repeated once the following to hit the very few subsequent hatchlings - no more ground wasps. Dust applicator worked perfectly for me and would appear to be good for numerous further uses. Plenty of each product left for further applications. Thanks, DIYPC!

Worked as advertised
Followed the instructions, no more Yellow Jackets. I had a nest starting in my wall next to my fireplace, tried everything the local hardware store carried. Nothing could penetrate deep enough, i was about ready to start drilling holes but saw this on the internet.

Done deal. Highly recommend!!

I had yellow jackets behind my vinyl siding and looked like O'Hare Airport before I got Walt's.

I followed the instructions, waited til dark and laid siege to the entry points.

Next day, no sign of life. Awesome stuff!

Worked the first time. Have enough for a couple of more nests. Mine was in the block wall of a detached garage. Went out after dark and sprayed into their access holes (4), waited 20 minutes and puffed powder in the holes. No more yellow jackets.

Another Awesome Product
Got stung 8 times while mowing my lawn. Saw yellow jackets streaming in and out of a hole in the ground. Went out at midnight, sprayed then dusted... All gone. The next year I hear scratching in one of my walls. I see the same thing from a small opening in my siding. Spay and dust... No more scratching. I keep this stuff handy.
