Aluminum tris (O-ethyl phosphonate) is an aluminum ester of alkyl phosphonate family. Aluminum tris is a common name for Fosetyl-Al. It is used as a fungicide in greenhouses, field grown ornamentals and lawn turfs.
Fosetyl-Al is a systemic fungicide. It is used to control rot of damp roots, stems and fruit. It may be applied to the soil before planting and to foliage. It is used against root diseases and pathogens.
Fosetyl-Al is a fine white, odorless powder and is considered a strong eye irritant. Fosetyl-Al poses no risk to non-endangered species.
The mode of action of Fosetyl-Al is an organophosphate that disrupts amino acid metabolism. Fosetyl-Al releases phosphonate as a breakdown product, and may serve as a fertilizer belonging to phosphorous acid compounds.
