Balan (Benefin)

Benefin, known as Balan is an active ingredient, used as a pre-emergent herbicide. It is used to kill annual weed grasses and crabgrass on lawns and golf courses.

As a pre-emergent herbicide, it helps to prevent the germination of seeds by its inhibition of a key enzyme. Many use this active ingredient in herbicides to combat crabgrass in summer lawns.

Mode of Action

Balan is of the Dinitroaniline class, along with trifluralin, prodiamine, oryzalin, pendimethalin and ethalfluralin. This class of herbicide inhibits cell division with resulting roots being very few.
