Flea Control

Flea Control Product Treatment In The Home

Step 1:  Cleaning

  • A crucial step to this treatment and any pest control treatment is cleaning.
    • Cleaning surfaces where the pets have been.
    • Remove clutter from area to be treated.
    • Remove pets and birds before treatment.
    • Cover fish tank and turn off pump.

Step 2: Treatment (Insect Growth Regulators and Insecticides)

  • IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) to stop the flea cycle while the insecticides are used to knock down your population. Understanding the flea cycle during flea treatments will aid in your success.
    • If you treat before a flea infestation begins, you can use the IGR by itself. This would prevent the fleas from emerging into adults; stopping the cycle. Spray this every 6 months.
  • Insect Growth Regulators and Insecticides come in liquid form or aerosol forms.
    • Indoors and Flea Aerosols: The best flea aerosols are not total release (aka flea bombs), but insecticide aerosols that may be held and directed to the floor surface, such as Pivot Ultra Aerosol or  Alpine Flea Aerosol  Flea/IGR Aerosols do not require a sprayer, works on all floor surfaces and are easy to use.
    • Indoors and Liquid Insecticide/IGR Combos: If you want a liquid combination. The recommended insecticides, Fenvastar Eco Cap, FenvaStar Plus are combined with an IGR is a liquid form in your sprayer. (See recommended spraying combinations). Liquid combinations work well on rugs/carpets, but not as well on hard floor surfaces. For hard floor surfaces, choose an aerosol for best results.
  • Treat the pets with flea treatments
