Snake A Way Snake Repelling Granules

Snake-A-Way snake repellent is the only EPA-approved, university-tested and patented snake repellent on the market today. Snake-A-Way is a dry granular mixture which is easy to apply by lightly sprinkling around homes, cabins, trailers, camp sites, and garages

How Snake Away Works

The Jacobson's organ in snakes is used with the tongue to sense its environment. The snake flicks out its tongue and picks up the scent of vapor molecules(Naphthalene). When the snake pulls in its tongue, the vapor molecules are transferred to the odor-sensitive Jacobson's organ. Naphthalene, a volatile product, and active ingredient, vaporizes and is brought into the sensory receptor (Jacobson's organ) and creates an immediate interference that is repressive enough to close down the sensory system and scare the snake into a hasty retreat. It was found to be so effective that it protected our military during the Gulf War from sand vipers and cobras.

Pet and children safe when used as directed.

  • Snake-A-Way snake repellent is the only EPA-approved, university-tested and patented snake repellent on the market today.
  • Snake-A-Way is unique - only snake repellent in the world. Highly effective on poisonous and non-poisonous snakes!
  • Effective repellent for 2 to 3 months--not destroyed by rain
  • University tested, EPA registered and a patented product.
  • As a snake approaches the product its sensory perception is alerted and the snake turns away leaving the area.
  • When applied as directed, it is safe to humans, pets, and the environment.
  • Snake-A-Way is a dry granular mixture which is easy to apply by lightly sprinkling around homes, cabins, trailers, camp sites, and garages and will last up to three months.
  • Normal rainfall will not harm the Snake-A-Way.
  • It has a slight odor which snakes can detect but people and pets don't.

How to Use Snake A Way Repellent

As a perimeter treatment, sprinkle or spread Snake A Way in 4-5 inch bands to repel garter snakes and 8-12 inch bands to repel rattlesnakes. Spread Snake-A-Way around the perimeter for a yard application. Reapply when the odor becomes faint.

When to Apply Snake A Way

Manufacturers suggest application during the spring, summer and fall months. It will help prevent the snakes from finding hibernation during the winter if you apply in the fall. Since snakes are very active during the spring and summer months, apply Snake Away during these months to keep them from entering the yard area.

Application

While this product may deter a variety of snakes, it is not expected to consistently repel snakes of the following types: corn snakes and other rat snakes, "moccasin" snakes such as cottonmouths and copperheads. The efficacy of the repellent varies with taxonomy. Some species are repelled with remarkable effectiveness, while others are not.

However, all species tested, exhibited some degree of behavioral avoidance of the repellent. There are circumstances in which individual snakes of all species tested will cross a strip of repellent, so the product cannot be regarded as an absolute barrier to these reptiles.

Re-treatment may also be necessary after heavy rains. Apply spring, summer, and fall.

Retreatment When the odor of Snake-A-Way becomes faint, its effectiveness may be diminished. If this occurs during a season when snakes are active retreat.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE PETS
Please keep this away from pets. I know it says safe to use around pets but the active ingredient is SUPER toxic to animals. We received this in the mail, closed and in a taped up box. We left it in the garage for a few days. Even while it was closed and taped up, you could still slightly smell the fumes. We didn't think much of it because like it says on the package, it's "safe around pets" so we kept it taped up in the box for a few days. Our amazing 2.5 year old Great Dane started having these nosebleeds. We couldn't figure out what was causing it so we took him to the vet on Thursday, they prescribed Benadryl to see if that would help. Later that evening we also took the Snake-A-Way out of the box and sprinkled some on the otherside of our fence, (with neighbors permission of course), since they don't have pets. EVEN THOUGH it says it is safe around pets we were still careful. It is now Saturday and our wonderful dog had a seizure this morning, pee'd on himself (he has NEVER had an accident in the house), and he couldn't even stand up after going to the bathroom and his legs were kicking. We then had to carry him outside to the car since he couldn't walk and rushed him to the vet. His face was swelling, they took blood, gave fluids, and steroids. This is when we started going over all the things that could've caused this and this is the only thing we could think of thats different. The Vet then had me look up the active ingredients in this stuff and sure enough, its VERY toxic to pets. We then had to take them to another vet 2 towns over to be watched over night. While getting checked in, he's had another seizure and we found out his platelets are very low. Right now we're not sure if he'll make it and this was from a very small "dose" of fumes. Our dog only walks through the garage to get to the yard to go to the bathroom and very rarely might lay in the garage for about 10-15 minutes at a time, but there is always a door open in the garage.
Imagine if we had put this stuff directly into our yard and it got soaked up through his paws?
My family is still at the vet right now hoping that our dog pulls through. If you have pets, PLEASE do not buy this product.

Great product for garter snakes in Ohio/Kentucky
My wife has a terrible phobia of snakes. Garter snakes are prevalent near our home in southern Ohio. I have been using this product for some years. It works great. In March, I spread it around the perimeter of our house and anywhere near areas of our yard that my wife might go. Our basement smells for a few days but no snakes are spotted. I spread it again in September.

SCARED no more
We have a commercial building that backs up to a bayou in our Houston area community. Snakes in the spring would lurk inside our landscape bedding on either side of our multiple entrance doors. As clients and employees would walk up to the door, a snake could cross their path - SCARY, SCARY , SCARY. We now place this on the perimeter of our property every 6-8 weeks far away from our landscape beds which has the effect of SCARING the snakes away before they scare us. This product works.

I love it
I am very happy with the product. I haven't seen any snakes around the house. Before I started using the product I had a snake try to crawl into the house when I opened the door! Freaked me out and knew I had to do something. Thanks Snake-a-Way.

Great product
We live in the desert. Prior to using Dr T's Snaked away we would see three to four diamondback rattle snakes a season (May thru Sept). About four years ago a neighbor advised us of SnakeAway. I have used it four times a year about every three months and not seen a rattlesnake in that time frame. With the addition of a pet border collie it is a necessity to snake proof the property. Like I said a Great product .

Need these snakes gone!
Smells like moth balls and stings like hell if you get the dust in your eyes but it works. Had two cottonmouths in a pond by the house. Used a spreader to put this around the house and around the pond. Left a little path I wanted the snakes to go. Next day, saw a trail right were wanted them to go (away and down the hill). No more snakes around my place!

Works Okay
We have more snakes than we need in KY. I spread this out around the yard perimeter and have seen a definite reduction, but not all or I'd give it five stars. Snakes are ok because they eat the rodents, just don't want them in my yard.
