Application

Baiting:

  • Place bait in main runways: To locate main runways, probe 12-18 inches from the surface mound on the side which is flattened or depressed using a burrow probe or smooth metal rod. When resistance on probe suddenly decreases, probe is in the main runway. Open the runway with the probe, a spade or shovel. Place one Bait Block into each opening of the runway and cover the opening securely to exclude light. Do not permit the loose soil to cover bait.
  • Place baits at two or three locations in each main burrow (runway) system. A pocket gopher will normally travel to all portions of its burrow system within ten a few days. As some gophers may die above ground, check the area periodically for 10-15 days after treatment. Bury or incinerate (if permitted locally) any dead animals found.
  • Follow-Up: Wearing waterproof gloves, collect and dispose of dead, exposed animals. Dispose of leftover bait in accordance with disposal instructions on the label. If reinfestation does occur, repeat treatment.
Retreatment If pocket gopher activity persists 2 weeks after treatment, bait burrow the second time.

Works for me
I don't use this stuff for gophers, I use it for ground squirrels fed in bait stations. Very effective, no more disappeared fruit crops. Controls the rats, too. Only problem is that they like it so well, they come for miles and I have to replenish the stations frequently. At least I don't have squirrels for miles. Occasionally I stuff one down a gopher hole, but the rabbits pull them out and eat them.

Not sure...
Gophers will not eat the bars unless you smear them with peanut butter first. I can't tell if they're working since I've seen no dead ones, which I suppose is to be expected. No gopher ever dragged a bar further into their tunnel.

Didn't work
Either this stuff isn't toxic enough or my gopher was too smart. He kept working despite multiple chunks put deep into his tunnels
