Product Information

Monument 75WG Herbicide

Monument 75WG herbicide is great for turf management, controlling major sedges and more than 40 listed weeds on turf. This broad spectrum herbicide keeps turf looking good soon after its application by inhibiting weed growth. Monument ensures a smoother transition to bermudagrass by removing over-seeded, cool-season grasses.

Monument 75WG is applied after emergence of certain weeds in established turf, particularly warm season turf. Monument 75 WG, with sulfonylurea is a selective and post-emergent herbicide that is used in commercial properties such as golf courses. It provides outstanding control of a broad spectrum of weeds, including all major categories of sedge weeds, oxalis, green kyllinga, and various other grass and broadleaf species in Bermudagrass and Zoysiagrass.

What Happens To Susceptible Weeds with Monument 75 WG

After using Monument 75WG, susceptible weeds are inhibited in their growth. The biochemical process that produces essential amino acids necessary for plant growth is inhibited by Monument. The leaves of these weeds usually change from green, to yellow then red or purple after several days. Necrosis and death occur at the growing point. Complete weed death happens 1-3 weeks after application, depending upon growing conditions, weed species, etc.

The inhibited enzyme system is acetolactate synthase (ALS). Some weeds are resistant to ALS inhibiting herbicides. Use of ALS inhibiting herbicides continuously over a number of years can lead to an increase in weed population. To prevent this build up of ALS resistance, weed management programs should include herbicides with different modes of actions within the same year, or sequential years.
