so far so good
so far so good with this product. we have been fighting drain flies since we bought our house a couple years ago. have tried the vinegar with baking soda thing, will work for awhile but they come back. I have been randomly using this product and have not seen any. did not give five stars because it has been too soon to tell if they will come back, but fingers crossed.

OK-but not perfect so far...
Sorry I can't write a perfect review at this time; used the product exactly as directed...it has "knocked" back the majority of the black drain flies, but has not completely obliterated them. Still find 1 to several each day in the master bathroom. Will continue to use product as directed for the time being and hope for better results. I am at my wits end!!!

It works if you use a lot
We slowly realized we had a drain fly problem. I had never even heard of them before, but all of a sudden there were several hanging around the house. They're really easy to snack dead since they don't seem to have the same reflexes as regular house flies. But, they wouldn't stop coming. Where are these things coming from? Then we saw them circling the drain in the back of the basement. Ah hah! So I poured a bunch of bleach down the drain
That should take care of it. NOT. So then we looked it up and learned that not much can get rid of them. That brought us here. So I bought a bottle of this stuff thinking it was a bit expensive, but nothing else seems to work so let's give it a try. I poured about a half a cup down the drain and waited. Well, that didn't seem to do anything because the flies kept coming. I could look down into the drain and see the liquid down there kind of writhing around. Yech. So I figure this was a waste of money anyway, let's see if more works. There was a little over half the bottle left after I had poured some down all the other drains in the house. So I poured the rest, over half the bottle, down the drain. Boom. It worked. The water stopped writhing (with maggots) and the flies stopped coming. We haven't had a fly yet and it's been a few weeks now. So while it's a bit expensive, it worked better than straight bleach to kill these flies and their larvae. I suggest you use way more than the directions say. The directions are for regular drain cleaning, not for killing drain flies.

It works!
It worked, and quickly. About two days after application the flies had disappeared and haven't come back. Very satisfied.

Worked like a charm!!’n
I don’t generally write reviews but i was so happy to be rid of those pesky drain flies that i had to. I started using the products two days after i received them and after two days i was not seeing anymore flies. I continued to use it a few more days just to be sure and i haven’t had a problem since. I had been dealing with those flies for weeks and used every recommended “cure” icoukd find. This product is the only one that did what it said it would!!

Outbreak Defender is GOLD..Biodrain not so much use dilute ammonia instead
Took a while to find out what and where these drain flies were coming from. It is old apartment building and i like yogurt for breakfast.I would drain the liquid on the top of my yogurt container into the sink. After about a year of doing that i had drain flies-all of the sudden one morning it was a blizzard of these flies I wasn't sure what they were?.Or wher from?
I was so happy when I found dyi...Outbreak Defender is GOLD..but Biodrain not so much. I read that cleaning drains with 1/4 cup ammonia to a quart of hot water is best for drain flies. I tried that, much less expensive and very effective. the 2 bottles of Biodrain worked for a while then would need expensive replacement..Ammonia much more affordable. I keep the sink plug in when i am not actively using the sink now.I have a spray bottle Outbreak Defender handy where ever i sit..I doubt i will need to replace the bottles when and if i use it all but it is expensive insecticide for every insect i have encountered since i got it..spider, ect. i have 4 bottles of Outbreak Defender to use up....gotta to love plain old Ammonia for drain flies! wish i had known but Outbreak Defender when drain flies were driving me crazy and they were every where is GOLD! Biodrain not so much

Seems to be the easy fix!
We've had recurring invasions of phorid flies since last summer, originating from a neighboring dumpster abutting our back fence and back doors. So we quit using those doors, but the problem - and the flies! - kept coming back, as they were by then breeding inside and not just flying in. It's now been about a month and this stuff seems to have done the job. After repeat visits from a pest control company with no permanent fix (altho they SAID they had one - WRONG!), the Invade Bio Drain gel seems be the easy fix to that now-no-longer-occurring problem!
