Victor Mouse Snap Trap M325

Walt Cline - Pest Control Professional Pro Tip: "This wooden Victor Mouse Trap is just like what grand mother used, but with the expanded trigger. If you look at the related products at the bottom of this page the Provoke really works. Take a cotton ball and pull off just a small amount then put some Provoke Mouse Attractant on it. The mice love it."

Message to Robert about rod not lining up properly.
Robert, this is a simple fix. Just bend the u bracket that holds the rod slightly toward the front of the trap. This will take up the slack and you can adjust it to your liking. I personally prefer the catchmaster mouse snap traps with the extended trigger. I don't think DYO carries them.

Easy to set but nothing yet
Tried sharp cheese and also the DIY Rodent & Squirrel bait . . . . nothing after a few weeks, but I may have poisoned 'em eariler with solid bait. At least there's no new evidence.

Work great - time after time
We've got a leak somewhere - two or three mice get into the space between our floors every 3-4 months. I have two of these tucked up in each of 4 can lights. Get them every time. Don't find setting too hard and i have to place them where i can't see them. (over my head in a hole). Have a hard time figuring out how the m144 can be much better.

very good
Has succeeded every time with a sunflower seed embedded in peanut butter

Of course they worked, but...
These traps were very hard to set. As far as I can tell, the rod kept slipping out of the plastic yellow trigger. There was just not enough friction. I resorted to putting a little ball of lightly wadded up tissue under the trigger's platform. That created enough resistance to keep the trap from springing seconds after setting it.

That said, the spring was very strong, so the bar killed mice very effectively.

Five stars for being cheap and working, but one star off for being hard to set.

The key to these classics is bait.
Plain & simple these awesome rodent guillotines are inexpensive and work! Especially if you use the right bait. My personal favorite is Honey Nut Cheerios. They hook right into the V in the trigger plate. Honestly I love the "new" wider, plastic trigger plate because I don't catch my finger anymore and they seem to do a better job of actually catching mice. This I believe is due to the bigger plate causing the trap to be activated quicker. More importantly the new design causes the trap to actually catch something and not have your bait stolen with the trap in tact.

Great design...gotta be as smart as a mouse...
I like the wide yellow tongue. There is more surface area for the mouse to hit in order to trip the trap...that's a no brainer. Are they fool proof? No, but mostly because the mice were smarter than me and avoided my traps. That's on me, not the trap. I typically put a little peanut butter in the bait tray...didn't have luck with the mouse attractant bait, so went back to peanut butter. Highly recommended traps...

not good!
We found these extremely touchy making them hard to set (getting my fingers snapped quite a few times.) Never caught any mice in these traps. Went back to the original standard trap (baited with peanut butter). These worked like a charm. The plastic cheese is supposedly scented with Swiss cheese. I guess our mice prefer Cheddar and chocolate and peanut butter. I would not recommend these specific traps.

excellent trap
This trap is a great product. The cost is cheap and as long as you know how to set it correctly it works eveytime.
