Chapin Premier XP Sprayer

Walt Cline - Pest Control Professional Pro Tip: "Chapin makes great sprayers. The reason I really like the Chapin Premier XP, is because it has an anti-clog filter in the pick up tube and the plunger cup. This anti-clog filter picks up particles that might clog your spray tip. Chapin pays attention to what it takes to make a successful sprayer. They have returned to the plunger cup design, replacing the o ring in the pump barrel."

drips after you release trigger
Drips after you release the trigger.....not good!

Is there a solution?

Thanks,
Dave

DIY RESPONSE: Dripping is an inherent problem in sprayers when the shutoff occurs at the handle. The liquid in the extension is prone to drip. Using it without the extension helps. Just screw the tip directly to the shutoff valve. Call us: 1-800-476-3368 if you need further assistance.

Room For Improvement
Just bought the Premier XP as a replacement to my 5 year old Premier. The Seal arrangement on the top was redesigned, such that the flashing left on the mold casting made it want to leak pressure when pumped up. Had to sand smooth the top surface to get it to seal, something that should have happened at the factory. The nozzle does drip after shutoff especially when tank is about empty, never could figure that out. It is better than the cheapy models, but the price makes you expect more. The replacement pump for my Premier listed same price as new XP.

Product work great
I lost my professional pest control person so I took it on myself to spay for cluster flies. This sprayer is good. It is better than those little garden sprayers that I use. This did overall a good job. Some of the far reaches of the height, I couldn't quite get ... when I got up to about 18'. Overall, it is quite a good product.

This is as good as it gets?
Disappointed at best. I've gone through several $20 department store sprayers and wanted a "quality" sprayer. After seeing these Chapin Sprayers on this website and for considerably more than the cheaper ones I wore out,.. I figured this would be my last sprayer I'd ever buy. Wrong. This was a disappointment out of the box. It was hard to determine the amount of water added because the plastic tank is not transparent. Trying to seal the large lid proved difficult because it's large size means more gasket seal to "squish" for an adequate seal. Hard to do unless you sit on the floor with the tank between your legs so you can get two hands on the lid to tighten sufficiently. Pain in the ass especially when you're sweaty and flies are buzzing around your head. Oh, the wand... yep, it leaks. I spray wettable powder insecticide and it is always clogging the hand valve. I've had nothing but trouble from this overpriced under-engineered sprayer. It went in the trash recently and replaced with a $20 job. So it last two years... at least it works.

DIY RESPONSE: Sorry you had trouble with your Chapin. It is best to keep the tank under heavy pressure because the sprayer is less likely to drip when you do this. The large heads design is so you can clean it well and to assist cleaning the pick up tube. Generally we've had good feed back about Chapin's products, but your dissatisfaction is understandable. If you ever have an issue with a product please call us 1-800-476-3368 so we can help solve the problem. Also a good alternative to the Chapin XP in this general price range is the B&G Dura Sprayer: http://store.doyourownpestcontrol.com/bg-10pv-dura-spray-1-gallon-sprayer.

A bit disappointed
I had 2 cheap sprayers one that needed to be replaced. The new Chapin xp sprayer drips after I release the trigger. It makes a bit of a mess when spraying a fine spray of bug killer. (The idea of the fine mist is to minimize the wetness. ) Then it drips a few times before it quits which defeats the purpose. Even my cheapo doesn't do that.

Worth the money
Works great! Definitely worth the purchase! I've bought a couple from the hardware store and they don't compare. The Chapin XP sprayer comes fully apart for easy cleaning, pump works great, and you can adjust the nozzle to spray anything between stream and mist.
