- Kills grass, no harm to plants
We have grass growing in 2 beds of vinca ground cover. This killed the grass without damaging the vinca. It is easy to apply & requires a small amount.
- Recommend for home gardeners to use in hobby gardens
I have used Fusilade II for years. The results of ridding an ornamental garden of unwanted grasses is much better and stronger than the pre mixed, on the shelf product at the big box stores by a familiar name in gardening chemicals.
Excellent for areas where grass can't be prevented from taking root in a garden around the plants and intertwining in the roots of the ornamental plant. And for Iris gardens, a wonderful frustration buster for grass that grown entwined in the rhizomes. I specifically used it for grasses that have grown into the root ball of daylilies. Other wise impossible to weed out.
I still try not to wet the ornamental plant with the spray solution, though spraying near the plant does not normally harm the plant. This only rids the garden and plant of the grass that has invaded and is too close to the plant to spray with other strong herbicides.
As always read the label and seriously pay attention to all cautions, wear gloves and keep out of reach of people and pets until it is dry where you have sprayed it.
- Sounds Expensive But It's Not
Considering how little you use (0.75 Oz/gal for hand held sprayer)this bottle will handle a tremendous amount of unwanted grass in your shrubs and flowerbeds. The best part is that it really works. I followed the directions, added the 0.5 Oz/gal of nonionic surfactant(spreader/sticker), and repeated the application in one week. The Bermuda grass (common Bermuda and TexTurf ) that had invaded my roses, vinca and primroses is now dead. Imagine the hours of labor it would have taken to try and dig that grass out. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has invasive grass in their desirable plants.
