Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap

Walt Cline - Pest Control Professional Pro Tip: "Since mice have poor vision they travel along walls. Place the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Traps along the walls. Mice like to go where other mice have been, so do not clean the stations. You will catch more mice in stations that have mouse smell to them. You might consider Tin Cat Glue Boards that fit in these traps. These glue boards would prevent fecal material from getting airborne so there would be less of a chance of health problems. If you use a glue board, this repeating mouse trap would not be classified as humane.
We also carry a really nice mouse trap similar to the Tin Cat but 1/2 the size called Pro Ketch Junior.

Super effective
Thoroughly effective and I like the human aspect. You don't need sticky pads or anything in these. I bought the clear top version, put a little peanut butter and chopped nuts in the center and put them down along the edge of the pantry and under the sink (where I saw mouse damage or droppings). Caught mice almost every night and took them miles away to a wooded area for release. Only caveat: the plastic window is kind of flimsy and can be torn by the frame's metal edges. I patched it with clear shipping tape. Also, my roomie stored empty traps under the sink (thinking all the mice were gone) and unknowingly caught 6 more while I was out of town. Some cannibalism went on - not as humane as we planned to be, but that's mice. Now we know to check them even if they're not baited.

Works Fabulously!!
I've had this product for a few weeks now and as of this morning have caught and released 15 mice. The most caught at one time has only been two. Unfortunately, just when I think I'm at the end, I see more. They are in my attic over my garage and I put a camera up there so I could check. They are so small and quick the most I've seen at one time are three, so have no idea how many are actually up there. Fingers crossed that I'm getting to the end of the line with them. I'm definitely getting my money's worth. Thank you!

Ok, but not escape-proof
I bait these with pecans, which seem to be attractive. I have no trouble capturing mice. I did have one get out one time when there were two in the trap; I'm not sure how that happened. The top was latched so it probably got out somehow using an entrance ramp.

If you plan to release mice, you'll have to take them a great distance (10 miles) to prevent them from coming back to where they were trapped. Just tossing them out in the yard or the parking lot won't get it done.

Nothing, not a single one!
These traps arrived very quickly. They are very well made. However I have had them out for over a week and not caught a single mouse. I know we have mice as I see them running across the floor. The little boogers aren't even afraid of us anymore, one ran across the kitchen counter while I was standing there.
Not sure what else to do but go back to the sticky trays as they always worked. I just felt so bad doing that to those little mice.

Perfect and humane
This is a great trap for humane mouse disposal. Im trying to teach my kid that all lives have equal value. “Who are we to take the life of a mouse”?

Better than ever
I was really impressed with the quality of the clear top model. I have a solid top from a while back that needed some adjustments for it to work properly, but what I got recently feels like it will last for decades. The mechanisms seems smoother. Everything feels much more solid. I have no complaints about my first tin cat, but this new one surprised me. Also, the poly-carb window is mounted on top with punched tabs which looks like it will be impossible for the mice to chew it. Victor really has a winner here, and a new loyal customer. I know it probably sounds like I work for them, but I don't. I just get excited when I see product improvement like this.

Used in home, under attic insulation
We tried several solutions to mice in the attic, including professionals.
Finally we went with another company that was delighted that we had purchased these. They were perfect for our problem of mice UNDER the insulation in the attic--a place where classic wood traps would not do well.

Catch and release
Worked like a charm. I captured 4 mice over 2 days. Released them in a field and never saw another mouse
