Dominion 2L Insecticide

Walt Cline - Pest Control Professional Pro Tip: "Dominion 2L is not only for termite control. It's also a powerful systemic used against white flies on ficus trees in south Florida. It is labeled for carpenter ants, but I think Taurus SC does a better job. Dominion 2L comes in two sizes, 27.5 oz and 2.15 gallon size. If you do the math, you will find the 2.15 gallon size is equal to ten of the 27.5 ounce bottles."

Dominion 2L Insecticide (Imidacloprid 21.4)

Dominion 2L is one of the most versatile, effective, and economical insecticides on the market. Dominion 2L contains imidacloprid which is a non-repellent. We have recommended it for years against termites and ants, and it continues to prove effective. Ants and termites can't detect the Dominion 2L Insecticide, so they crawl through it, and unknowingly track it back to the nest. Once there it eliminates the entire colony. For termite control, an average house would need 100 gallon yield, using 4 gallons per 10 linear feet. The exterior perimeter label of Dominion 2L which allows you to focus your treatments where termite infestations are most likely to occur .

Excellent Product
This company and their customer service have been walking with me through my fest woe's since early summer. From flea infestation in one of my rental houses, to fighting ants at the rental and in my private home. These guys are second to none in helping you out.

I started fighting the ants by using their bait system of Optiguard and Maxforce protein and sweet product combination. It works, and although I still use it and recommend it, I needed further help. I'm pretty sure I have ants that have not even been identified and cataloged yet. So, my customer service contact I've gotten to know recommended stepping up to Dominion. Since it's a non-repellant, I could spray their trails without making them scatter and move and make mega-nests. (I sound like I know what I'm talking about now that I'm a DIY bug gal now! HA!.....actually, I just know about ants.....and fleas now...)

The first day, I saw a very big decrease in their trailing. So, I went ahead and sprayed the second day as well. They disappeared. About two weeks later, I saw them trying to trail again. But it was funny - the ants were smaller. Do they grow up and get bigger and these are a new batch of hatched ones trying to carry on? (see - I'm still learning) So, I sprayed again, but didn't need to spray a second day this time. I'm guessing it's like the flea cycle? Need to kill as the new ones are hatching?

At any rate - I'm seeing big results and will continue.
And my neighbor next door is happy, too because I'm spraying the trails into his yard, too! HA!

Great Product !!
Last year we had "Crazy Ants" in our home...mainly in kitchen. These ants have not been a problem until then. My wife fought them all summer. I vowed that would not happen this year.. Followed the mixing instructions and sprayed about 4 weeks ago. No sign of crazy ants now. Even fire ants are gone. Great Product. Be sure to use proper PPE when using.

Highly effective, use with care to avoid pollinating insects
As recommended by our town's Tree Board, we use this product as a soil drench to fight wooly adelgid on our hemlocks. It is highly effective when used in recommended solution and application within 18" of trunk and away from blooming plants that would attract pollinators.

Death to Wooly Adelgids
Been using for 10 years in western NC mts. Neighbors used alternatives and all hemlocks died, I tried horticultural oil but too labor intensive. Have gotten 5 years per application but now doing every 3 because once tree is damaged it stays damaged. Great product. Way easier to use than Merit powder.

Other Uses besides termintes
A friend of mine told me about Dominion 2L Insecticide for killing insects (scale, mealy bugs, white flies, etc in his greenhouse. I grow orchids and have had problems with bugs for years but now I use Dominion and all my problems are gone. There are not too many products that can be used in a greenhouse that really works. I have been using this product for about a year now and love it. Thanks.

Protect your hemlocks
We, the Signal Mountain Tree Board, use this to treat hemlocks to protect them from HWA. It is the only chemical we use and have had good results.

wooly adelgid
I have used this product as a soil drench on a large acreage tract in Oconee County, SC in fighting wooly adelgids on Hemlocks. The product works extremely well and lasts for several years (beyond what the labeling indicates). I have treated small trees as small as 12 inches in height to large ones 10 feet in circumference. I treat in February before the sap rises in the trees (and the snakes begin to roam). This is a great product but as it says on the label, keep it away from waterways. Spraying this, or any other such product, is wasteful and hazardous. The drench method is the way to go. Buying in this concentration, as Blackhawks Fan says above, is very cost effective, even in large areas like mine.

Necessary for HWA
We live on a mountain with a bird sanctuary and an abundance of trees. We are losing our hemlock trees to the wooly adelgids. The only affordable treatment is to carefully pour directed amounts within 1 foot of the base of each hemlock.

We do not spray it for fear of killing our bees and birds.

We use it carefully and in the right amount to destroy the HWA and preserve our environment at the same time.

Thank you for making this available to us.

This works to prevent Emerald Ash borer infestation
I have been using this product to root drench my remaining ash trees on my property here in northern Illinois. I lost a big green ash next to my deck and I was sick to see it come down. Only after losing it did I hear how imidacloprid is effective against the emerald ash borer. I have been "root drenching" my remaining ash trees at the end of April every year since the borers emerge at the end of May and so far, so good. They trees are remaining healthy with no signs of infestation. You have to treat them every year but this product goes a long way due to the % of imidaproclid in it. The Bayer Tree and Brush stuff you get at Home Depot is only 1 1/2% strength and costs $16-18/bottle. This is much more cost effective. However, do NOT use this product on any flowering tree or shrub because it is extremely toxic to bees.
